Signal Control Products is incorporated in the state of New Jersey, with business offices in Hillsborough, New Jersey.  The corporate charter is to be a full-line supplier of traffic signals, steel and aluminum poles and arms, fixed-time and actuated traffic controllers, controller cabinets, signal hardware, and other supportive products used by the New Jersey traffic industry.

 

SCP becomes established as a significant sole source supplier to the New Jersey traffic control market.  Our in-house stocking program is launched, allowing immediate delivery for emergency knockdown requirements and is quickly accepted by the smaller counties across the state.  Our traffic control product line is fully tested and accepted by the New Jersey DOT and continues to grow as we add newer leading edge technology traffic products.

 

Business growth forces SCP to move into a larger manufacturing facility in Somerville, NJ, where we rent 5,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing/office space.  This is the birth place of SCP’s growth into supplying custom manufactured traffic control cabinets.  We are awarded a large NJDOT eight-phase controller order.  At the same time, we launch our own line of homogeneous traffic signal mounting hardware which receives NJDOT approval.
 
A distributor agreement is reached with Transyt Corporation, Tallahassee, FL.  Their solid-state actuated controller is accepted by the NJDOT, providing us a very competitive technical edge.

 

Signal Control Products moves into a new 5,000 sq. ft. building built to our specifications.  This allows significant expansion of our in-house manufacturing capabilities, and additional space for our in-house traffic inventory.

 

SCP opens a district office in Harleysville, PA, following a successful negotiation with Peek Traffic to become their sole-source distributor in eastern PA.  Pennsylvania’s traffic equipment needs are complementary to those of New Jersey, strengthening our customer base.

 

SCP joins the Econolite team, covering the state of New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania.  Econolite’s actuated controller product line, along with their advanced machine vision processor product lines become an instant success in our area.

 

Signal Control Products moves into a new 50,000 sq. ft. “dream” facility in Branchburg, NJ.  We now have 20,000 sq. ft. of office space and 30,000 sq. ft. of warehouse space.  This building has a custom-designed cabinet manufacturing area and a state-of-the-art training room capable of seating up to thirty-five students at each session.  SCP also upgrades our district office this year, increasing our sales and technical staff in Harleysville, PA.

 

Our Pennsylvania branch office moves to a new 10,000 sq. ft. building in Souderton, PA.  The new location provides additional warehousing space, a large technical area for cabinet preparation and testing, and a conference room and training area.  This new facility allows us to offer our Pennsylvania customers a higher level of service and technical support.
